First Entry
Feb 28th 2011. The last day of meteorological winter in this region. This is a time of transition. Weather-wise we can have wide swings of temps from the 70's to sub zero. We can have ran, freezing rain, drizzle, frizzle, severe T-storms tornadoes and heavy snow. But it is not only a year of transition meteorological, it is a time of transition for us physically, mentally, psychically and spiritually. We begin to throw off the darkness of seasonal depression and as the days grow brighter and longer, our outlook grows brighter. We see the stirrings of new life, birds migrate back to the north, the first flowers pop up, the grass begins to turn from brown and frost-burned green to a brighter living green. Frogs begin to sing, ice leaves the lakes and our own stasis melts away. It is time to move from looking inward, to looking outward, a time to finish those plans we developed during our time of introspection and prepare to plant the seeds for our future. A time to start again, renewed, refreshed and reborn.
