Between a Rock and a Hard Place

My dad often said that we were "between a rock and a hard place" Growing up without having much I really didn't understand the significance of this saying until I was on my own for a while. But I am sure that we have all been there between that rock and that hard place, and for many it almost seems like a second home, especially these days. This year is actually a "4" year according to numerology, a number that basically indicated that it will be a year of hard work, fraught with difficulties, obstacles and very little in the way of gain. Pretty much like the old saying, "the harder I try the behinder I get."

I didn't vote for Obama, I disagree with 99% of his policies, but I can say that he seems to be doing the best he can with what he has to work with. I guess historians at some point will debate upon the right or wrong of it. But he is the one everyone is pointing their fingers at, and he has become the scapegoat. I may think he is the wrong person for the job he is trying to do, but I certainly do not blame him for my troubles.

The country is between that proverbial rock and hard place, as most could probably agree. But like everything in life it is a cycle. The reason there are no jobs is simply that there ARE no jobs, they all went over seas. War is usually great for an economy because it creates jobs. Well that plan didn't work this time around because all of the jobs have left the country, so our war(s) have been great for those countries that our companies have moved and outsourced to. Supposedly it happened because they could manufacture and ship goods and services here much more cheaply than if they stayed here. So the jobs have left, and the money has left and with no money to buy stuff, the economy has ended up in the toilet. So I guess instead of pointing fingers, we should accept that we are all a little bit to blame. And if we would just channel all of the energy used in pointing fingers toward something positive and productive maybe by working together, we can pull it out of the toilet. But we also know thats never going to happen, LOL!

So we are saddled with hard times, which seem to always bring out the best and worst of people. Sometimes adversity creates a common "enemy" for the people to rally against such as the city and towns people all pitching in to save what they can in cities like Minot. Other times adversity creates desperation to the point where good people are driven to crime because they feel they have no other option. So adversity is always a test of sorts. we can work through it and rise above it and become better than we are, or we can sit idly by and point fingers and blame everyone else for our problems. We can grow bitter and stagnant, or we can transform and grow. Thats the spiritual lesson of being between a rock and a hard place. Next year things will start to get a little better..
