Subject: The Yellow Light .............
The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing,
stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red
light by accelerating through the intersection.
The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in
frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection,
dropping her cell phone and makeup.
As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked
up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered
her to exit her car with her hands up.
He took her to the police station where she was searched,
fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.
After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened
the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the
arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.
He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind
your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in
front of you and cussing a blue streak at him.
I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life'
license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker,
and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally
I assumed you had stolen the car.''

I chucked over it, then got to thinking how many times I have seen something very similar pop up in my daily life. But it is not isolated to any one particular religious faith. I have seen people of all spiritual paths act in opposition to the tenets, teachings and philosophies of their chosen spiritual journey. And it also seems that the more devout the person professes to be the more that person transgresses upon the tenets of his/her belief system. None of us are perfect of course, by a long stretch, and we all have times and moments when we do not act in accord with our faith. But if we truly wish to better ourselves spiritually, this is something we should acknowledge and try to grow past as we strive to evolve and become better than we are. Consider each individual as a work in progress. Yes there are guides and teachers, and there are parameters set here and there designed to help us along the way to perfection within our personal belief systems, but they do us little good unless we own what we do. We all need to face our spiritual imperfections and short comings if we truly wish to evolve spiritually. Only by facing ourselves candidly can we achieve that which we all are striving for. We are all a work in progress, but only we can do the work. No one else can do it for you. Become attain and enjoy the journey.
